It wasn't the tears and snot pouring down your face kinda thing, but it was a feel it in your gut, takes all of your control not to start sobbing moment. This is coming from a guy that puts up a political blog called Whiny Liberal, so this may very well be my expected normal behavior.
I was working in my yard listening to TED (Technology, Entertainment, and Design) recordings on my phone. I've been listening to a lot of TED lately, they have short duration, amazing talks of some of the best and brightest folks around the world. TED talks don't normally make me cry, Deficit discussions, the fate of our space program, or Hachiko maybe, but a Technology presentation?
The TED talk I was listening to was by Dean Kamen: The emotion behind the invention that was from three years ago. Dean Kamen is an inventor probably most well known for the Segway. Dean talks about being engaged by DARPA to develop a prosthetic arm that isn't a "plastic stick with a hook on it."
I was listening to this talk on my phone, so I didn't get to see some amazing video section showing off the functionality of the product he and his team came up with, but he continues about visiting Walter Reed. The part that got me was when he was talking to some of the soldiers and called on a guy sitting at the far end of the who hadn't said much. I'll leave why I was fighting off tears to those that will give the time to watch/listen to the talk, but the inspiration of this soldier's attitude in coming over his adversity floored me. I had to stop my phone at the end of the talk, because I felt I needed to bring this talk back up to a larger audience.
In the Facebook world you can Like things, but TED is one of those things where I wish they allowed a double or triple Like stuff. If you're not familiar with TED, please give it a try.

You know I am a huge fan, and have been since TED's inception.
